Aquatica Attempt

We had big plans for today. Derek has a 4 day weekend so we decided we would take Allie out of school and do something fun. We thought up several ideas: camping (everything was already booked), Corpus Christi (too expensive), Sea World and the new Aquatica water park......perfect because everyone would be in school so it might not be as busy as it would be in the summer. Not only that, but my pass is still good until the end of June and we can get everyone else in free once a year with the military.

We made sure we were early and had planned on staying from open to close (10 -6). Once we pull in to park we're told Aquatica isn't open today!!! I had triple checked the website to make sure it was open......and it had said it was. We were just going to turn around and leave but decided we would see what we could do since we had taken Allie out of school for this. Once we got up to the ticket counter Derek explained our situation. They weren't going to do anything about it. Luckily, Derek had his phone and could pull up the website to show them. He noticed a badge on the manager's shirt, she was the wife of an Army helicopter pilot. He mentioned he was military and so she went ahead and let us go in for free......and then we can still go back later in the year with our official free military pass.

The girls still had a lot of fun. I know Allie loves school but she said it was worth missing it for this. We spent the entire time in the Sesame Street's Bay of Play. At least there was a splash pad to cool off in. The only problem with the day.......Derek started feeling really sick. I knew he was probably getting what the rest of  had been plagued with since last Wednesday.........a nasty stomach bug. So we had to call off our day early. Now let's just hope we all don't get it again! Avery's already had it twice and tonight Allie was complaining of headache and stomach ache.
