Skating Party, Potter Painting & Dr. Seuss Week

The girls were invited to another birthday party last weekend.....and another one this weekend. I really think we have one to go to every weekend. This party was for a little girl in Avery's class and siblings were welcome to come. It was at the skating rink so Avery was extra excited about that since Allie has already been to a skating party.

Allie and I left the party for about an hour to go paint pottery with a couple of friends in her class. The Arts and Crafts center was just 2 building down from the skating rink so it worked out perfectly! She had fun and I enjoyed meeting some new Moms.

I think the busy day wore them out........

This week was Dr. Seuss week at school.

Crazy Hat Day

Crazy Hair Day
Allie originally wanted her hair like Cindy Lou Who but after it was done decided she didn't want to participate in crazy hair day.

Class Picture Day. I decided to do an experiment with the girls' hair the day before class pictures. Probably not the best idea. Turned out okay but definitely not what I was hoping for. Allie really liked hers but it was SO different then how she normally wears her hair. I knew she'd probably get some comments. Sure enough, she said a couple people told her "TODAY isn't crazy hair day!!" haha. Avery wasn't a fan of her hair. I think she is so stinkin' cute with curls. I miss her curls so much!

I don't want to rub it in for all of you in Indiana but we've been having some pretty nice weather here (probably just means we'll have to wait that much longer for spring to actually get here though). One day after school was really nice so I had the kids go outside to play.

And a conversation with Avery this morning...........:
Mom, yesterday I had to whisper the "s" word to Miss Q.
 Huh?
Yeah, I didn't say it loud I just whispered it.
Why did you have to whisper the "s" word to her?
Because she wanted to know what it was.
Oh, did someone else say it and you were telling on them.
Jacob said it!
I don't know what the "s" word is. Will you whisper it to me?
Really, you don't know?! You know, Mom.......sexy lady.

Yearly Interviews and a few more Random things

First of all, I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my last post........nearly every morning I get woken up by Avery shouting, "I'm done pooping!!" The past few months or so Blake hears Avery get up and he goes into the bathroom with her. They have their little conversation and then when Avery is done she'll yell her usual, "I'm done pooping!" Only now it's followed by, "Arey's done pooooooping!" Saturday was a little different. I woke up to Blake yelling, "Mom, I done poooping!" I jumped up right away. I was so nervous to go in there. Sure enough he had pooped but he didn't quite make it to the toilet. Instead it was all over the toilet seat and his hands.....but I was SO proud of him for giving it a try. Our potty training hasn't been too successful yet. He's had a few accidents but, for the most part, he will just hold everything in until nap time when I put a diaper back on him (or night time). He's getting more ready each day though. Hopefully we will have it mastered before summer gets here.

100th Day of school. I'm not really sure when the 100th day of school is/was. Allie says it was sometime last week. Avery's 100th day project was due today....but I think they are celebrating tomorrow. So confusing. Anyway, for Avery's project she was to bring in a collection of 100 items. Something that they could sort, count, etc. I remember Allie doing cool things in prek and Kinder for her 100th day projects.......I couldn't just have Avery bring in 100 rocks or legos (that she would probably lose).....so I turned for pinterest for ideas. Found this and thought it was cute and with the use of a Ziplock bag she could still take out the balls to sort and count!

Random thing this morning. While I was doing my morning exercises, Blake was telling me he was hungry. That kid wants to eat all the time.....he had just had breakfast. Well, he took it upon himself to get a snack. He downed 4 yogurts in the less than 5 minutes it took for me to finish up and go to the kitchen to find him.

Valentine's / President's Day Weekend

I love these long 3-4 day weekends! Valentine's day was Friday. Derek had the day off so we planned on taking the girls to school....that way they could sleep in a little longer (and us too!) I was shocked when I woke up and found the girls dressed and picking out their jewelry. Before I could even say anything they just looked at me with big smiles on their faces and said, "We didn't go to sleep last night!" What? You are going to be SO grumpy today. To which Allie replied, "Well, I slept a little." Those little sinkers were so excited for their Valentine's parties they couldn't sleep. Weirdos! ;)

Here are the girls after school.....still wired from all of the sweets.

Back up to while the girls were at school.....after dropping them off, Derek, Blake and I went out for breakfast and some bowling! The bowling alley was packed for about the first half hour we were there and then we had the place to ourselves.

Thank you for the shirt GG! "Man of Your Dreams!"

Of course Derek beat me in all of the games. This is the only sport he can beat me in though. ;)

Well, he beat me in ALMOST all of the games. Change things up, bowl left handed and the results are a little different.

After bowling we grabbed a few groceries and then went out for lunch.

Once the girls got home from school we got them quick snacks and then they were off to a friend's house for the evening. So, I continued Valentine's Day with my boys. Shopping at one of my favorite stores, eating at Nandos (a favorite restaurant), and then a quick stroll through this carnival that we just stumbled upon.

It was a great Valentine's Day!

Saturday we stayed in our pajamas all day and cleaned house. Sunday after church we took a nice, long bike ride through the village. Beautiful day!

Today we went back to the carnival with some friends and had a late lunch at Nandos. Fun weekend!

And here is Blake in his TMNT mask GG sent.........

Short Update & Pics

This is for you, Mother!

We haven't been up to much of anything. I left Blake with someone for the first time, since moving here, yesterday.....for 7 hours. This was a huge step for both of us!! haha. He was so excited to go and play with "Awesome". (that's how he says Austin & Autumn...his friends names) I don't think he realized that I wasn't staying though. It was a bit of a mess when I left him. Not even 10 minutes later I had a text though saying that Blake was completely fine now. Austin told Blake, "Blake it will be okay, your Mommy will be back to get you tomorrow." haha Blake said, "oh, ok." Blake and Austin played with monster trucks all day and I don't think Blake wanted to come home!

The girls are really into the movie "Frozen" right now. They sing the songs from the movie ALL DAY LONG! Allie is becoming quite the singer! So is Avery! And even Blake! Last night I found this picture posted on Facebook:

Allie wrote out the entire song, "Do you want to build a snowman?" from the movie, for her friend Aiden. Yes, there are several spelling mistakes but I was so impressed with how she used quotations and a bracket for the sound of the clock going tick tock! She did this while on the bus. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before that they have an hour bus ride. Sometimes Allie will do her homework so she won't have to do it when she gets home. Sometimes she will even help all of the Kindergartners on the bus do their homework.....well the 3 that are all in Avery's class and have the same homework. She insists that she doesn't do it for them and just helps them when needed.

After Christmas break Avery's class made gingerbread houses. Derek was able to go and be with Avery for some help.

A couple weeks ago the girls were out of school for Teacher Records Day. We had parent teacher conference with Avery. She hasn't progressed much since last conference. I'm starting to think she may have to repeat Kindergarten, she's still well below where Kindergartners should be at this point in the school year. Anyway, instead of going somewhere on this day off, we stayed home and the girls did this little activity.

They also jumped on the trampoline. We got this sometime last month. It was on $30 and they've been wanting one. They love it....when it's warm enough to go out there. (this is probably why Avery missed school the next 2 days!)

When I went outside to check on the girls and get this pick I turned around because I heard giggling........this is what I found!

I told Blake to stand at the door and watch. He didn't have any pants on because we are potty training. Obviously, as soon as I walked out the door he ran and got his boots and came outside! Goofball!

But he is so handsome

Terrible picture of me, but I love it when they smother me with kisses!

This was supposed to be our Christmas Eve fire......but a month late will work.

Kid Quotes

Back on our last trip to London Avery blurted out, " I just feel like everyone is talking British!"

One night while we were eating dinner Allie said, "It's not about being rich, it's about having a great life!" I can't remember what it was exactly that prompted her to say that. I know this was before our trip to London. I think Derek and I had been talking about places we would go, things we would do, etc. Of course Derek always mentions money and things being expensive.......I think that is maybe what prompted it.
