Blake joined in on the fun.
Avery participated too, but they do this by grade level and I got there just as she was finishing up....so no pics of her.
Awards Program
Their school only has one awards program at the end of the year. It's basically to recognize 5th graders who had amazing grades throughout the year and then a few other students for a few other recognitions. Allie was recognized for her outstanding accomplishment in the Reading Counts program. This program is one that is set up so students can read any book of their choice. Then they take a short quiz on comprehension. The more difficult the book, the more points you get and so on. Well, Allie was the highest reader in the entire school! She finished with 688 points (she had a goal of 700) and over 2.5 million words read! So proud of her!
Avery also set a goal. Her goal was to get all 4 dog tags. Each grade had different #'s to be reached in order to get each dog tag. I think for 2nd grade they had to get at least 60 points. Avery ended up with 100 points.....so all four dog tags! She was so proud of herself and, of course, we were proud of her. Reading is something she really struggles with. We've noticed her having more confidence when reading and just enjoying it more! It's been fun to see her blossom!
Teacher Appreciation
We missed almost the whole week of teacher appreciation week due to being in Idaho. We got back just in time to quickly put a little goodie box together.
Last end of year concert. There are 3 concerts throughout the year. Only 2 grades perform per performance, plus the Hedgehog Singers. This was Avery's turn! It was a patriotic theme and they had so many of us in tears!!
Allie is in the Hedgehog singers and they were fantastic as always.
I did not make it to the girls Field Day activities this year. It was my good friend, Melissa's birthday, so I spent the day with her. Neither of the girls really had many activities where the parents were invited to. Allie did have an end of year picnic. That pic will come later!
