The Rest of Our October Happenings

Derek played soccer with his Squadron again this year. They actually had a pretty decent team. So all of September and some of October we spent many nights at the soccer field. Derek had extra long nights because he also took on some ref-ing. Allie was really into watching them play this year. She really understands the game now so I think that probably helps. Both girls have been wanting to do a bake sell, but it just isn't the right time of year to try to do something like that......so we let them bake cookies for the team. They had a blast and were so proud of themselves!

Allie decided to be a part of the Hedgehog Singers this year and they practice every Wednesday for an hour after school. Unfortunately that means that I have to pick up Avery from school every Wednesday because she wouldn't get off the bus until after 4.....and I can't be in two places at once. So, we usually just play on the playground for an hour. One day Blake had a bad accident. It looks worse than it actually was, I think. It healed up nicely.

And since I started writing this post, Avery's teacher has ever so kindly offered to keep Avery after school for me until 4pm on Wednesdays!!! They will work on reading and Avery will take some Reading Counts quizzes and just catch up on any work that she might be behind on. We have been so blessed with the most amazing teachers!!

Derek had another Mucky Race. This was after his soccer tournament though so he was SO exhausted. He ref-ed 4 soccer games on Tuesday, played 2 games on Wednesday and then 3 games on Thursday. Had Friday off and then the 10k on Saturday! Crazy!! He actually finished faster than his last race (1:01), but came in 28th.

Blake was so cute playing with this stick while we were waiting for Derek.......

The kids had their Primary Program this month. Blake's first one! He was so cute getting up there to say his part. We also saw his lips moving during the songs. Not sure he was singing, but at least he was pretending! ;) He loves to get dressed up and always looks so sharp! Had to snap a few (hundred) pics of my handsome prince charming.
