Pumpkin Patch, Fall Fest & More

We had such a beautiful weekend here in the UK. We found a cute little pumpkin patch to take the kids to. The owners let us ride their tractor down to the patch and gave us some cutters to cut them off the vine. The kids had a fun time choosing their pumpkins. Blake kept yelling at us to "carry, pwease" because he kept tripping over the vines.

Afterwards we went to the Fall Fest that Derek's Squadron was putting on. We found out about it just this week so we didn't have a whole lot of time to figure out costumes for the kids. I literally put something together the night before. Avery's was easy.......she wore Allie's costume from last year, Blake didn't want to wear his, and Allie's was the one that took awhile to figure out.....mainly because she was being so picky, but I finally came up with something that she liked!
And once we got home we relaxed outside and enjoyed our family time!

Exploring our Village

Throughout the past couple of weeks the weather has been amazing so we figured we'd walk the streets of our tiny village just to check it out.

We found the village center.
and a tiny playground

After finding this playground we explored the church right behind it. Then we realized that this was the church we can see from our backyard. We found a path that lead us basically right to our house.......easy walk and a great find! :)

Another day we thought we'd try a walking/biking/horse path that our landlords had told us about it. It's literally right down the road. There are several different ways we can go on the path. We can choose a nice hike through the woods or we can walk straight to the path along the river. It goes on and on. They said that it goes to a village that is a 20 minute drive away so I can only imagine how long it would take us to walk it. It was a beautiful and fun walk and will be perfect for bike rides too!

We don't have any pubs or takeaways in our village but the neighboring village of Stoke Ferry has a takeaway that is outstanding! We tried it for the first time last Saturday........it was packed, good sign. We got one of their Chinese dishes and it was delish! Then for Derek's b-day we grabbed some hamburgers & chips.....again, delish!
We do have the Funny Farm right across the street though. We weren't sure if they served meals or if it was just cuts of meat, eggs, etc that we could buy. We're fairly certain it's the latter.

And just a few random pics I took of the kids playing outside while Derek and I were working in the garage.

And last, whoever said there were no bugs here was wrong! There are wasps and spiders galore!!! We are constantly finding new spider webs..........and we also find a spider or spiders everyday. We've been told it's the time of year where they start to lay their eggs so they are going to find their way in the house. I hate spiders so it's really freaking me out! They aren't tiny ones either. This is a pic I got of one and we've seen bigger!

Kids Day Out

We kind of spoiled the kids this past weekend with fun things to do for them. They had been so bored lately and complaining that we weren't doing anything fun. In their defense, we probably weren't giving them all of he attention they deserved as we were busy trying to get the house in order. We figured it was probably time we let them have some fun. Friday was High Lodge and then Saturday Lakenheath base hosted a Kid's Day Out event. They really enjoyed it. Afterwards we even spent over an hour at the playground while Derek went and got a few groceries.

High Lodge

The kids were out of school this past Friday so I planned a little outing for us. We went to High Lodge in Thetford Forest just about 20 minutes or so from our house. The weather was perfect and we had such a fun day!

This "swing" is SO fun

There was one area in the forest where they had a bunch of wood cut up to build your own little hut. This is our before picture (more like in progress picture)
And here it is finished. Allie and I really enjoyed this activity....and didn't want to leave.
The trail we walked along had all of these playgrounds and fun stops on the way, making the hike much more fun and enjoyable for the kids. This particular playground was massive, a bit scary actually. I did climb up with Blake so he could do it and then he stayed closer to the ground and mastered this rope bridge thing.
Here is the playground
Another fun thing......the zipline. I think there is a zipline at just about every good playground around here. This one was definitely the best we've come across so far though. Blake has to get right in on the action too.
Here the girls are posing with an Ape. There is a Go Ape Adventure course here....they have a junior one too that we will definitely be hitting up  sometime in the next three years. Blake didn't want to get near this scary guy.
