Now on to the family reunion. This year it was held in Garden City, Utah. These reunions are every other year and are only a total of 4 days, which really means 2 full days and 2 half days. It's not enough time especially for those of us that have to travel so far and rarely ever get to see anyone. That said, it's really what has to be done since not everyone can take off a lot of time for work........there are 11 kids who schedules we have to work around. It's amazing that everyone is always able to make it. Not all of the grandkids/nieces/nephews are always able but there are so many it really would be a miracle to get Everyone there. It's always good to see everyone and so crazy how fast the nieces and nephews grow and you don't even recognize them! I'll basically let the pictures tell the story here.
the Lodge -- the family took up the whole place. Each family had their own room/bathroom. There were 2 kitchens and a common room. Our room was bottom floor -- far right in pic.
Kids were SO excited to see Grandma & Grandpa. Kinda fun that Blake rarely called Mony -- Mony, but would call Grandma Huber, Mony, quite often. They were also thrilled to see cousins, especially Abby, Kaiya and Kinley. They had grown so close living by each other in Ohio and with each other for a while in Texas!!
We were one of the families in charge of dinner the first night. We had Allie ring the dinner bell!
After dinner cousin fun
Celebrating Grandma's birthday
Next day.....family pictures
Grandkids....I counted at least 11 missing from this photo (not including great-grand kids....at least 3 of those missing)
Blake loved playing ball with baby Samson. He just didn't quite realize how little he was.
Then we spent the rest of the afternoon at Bear Lake
Sunday --- we had our own little family church service. Basically just anyone that wanted to bear their testimony. A lot of people got up, the Spirit was strong. 4 grandkids got up....2 of them were older/college age, the other 2 were younger......one of them being ALLIE!!!! When she got up, Derek and I just looked at each other in shock. She had never done this before. I had to get the Kleenexes out after that. She is such a sweet girl with such a strong, sweet spirit about her. Her getting up sure did make Grandma and Grandpa awfully happy and proud too.
Closer up and with some editing...LOVE THIS!
After our church service, Derek organized a cornhole tournament. Everyone seemed excited to play and things were moving along......then all of a sudden things slowed down, people had to leave, etc. So we never finished. It was double elimination. Derek and I made it to the final round of the first part and lost, so we would have been in the championship game of the losers bracket where the winner of that game would play Makenzie and Braydon (who beat us prior). I'd like to think that we would have won........be we will never know. :(
Of course we spent each night playing games. This night we played Ticket to Ride 3 times!
Monday -- riding horses
Saying "see ya laters"
He loves motorcycles so we put him on cousin Matt's........he was terrified.
Before the reunion we were able to spend a little bit of time at Temple Square and we also went to Antelope Island and visited the Great Salt Lake.
After the reunion, we had a day until we were flying out so we went to Cherry Hill water park.
This ride was intense. It was super fast, we were constantly getting stuck. First Derek tried to go with both girls. Avery chickened out so it was just him and Allie. Allie seemed to love it so she wanted me to go with her. I did.....it was fun but like I said, a little intense. Towards the end of the day Avery decided she wanted to do it. I didn't think there would be anyway Derek could hold on to both girls while going down. Turns out, I was right. Towards the end of the slide there was so much force Avery's tube was ripped from his hand.
Here is her freaking out......and Derek going back after her
Since Derek went back for Avery he had to let go of Allie. She finished on her own.....bad picture though.
More of Avery freaking out
Before Avery went on that waterslide we went on some others. She was able to sit on our lap on that slide so she was completely fine........which I think she had confidence then to go on this other one. Blake was even able to go on the other waterslide. He went twice and that was enough. He wasn't a big fan. It was pretty fast. I'm sure it was scary for him
