Huber HIGHlights

My dream while here was to go on a Mediterranean cruise.....and my dream came true! Back in May we, along with our awesome friends, embarked on this awesome adventure. We started and ended in Venice, Italy. We made sure to take advantage of that and spent a couple days before and after in this romantic city (and where we would be to celebrate Derek and I's 12th wedding anniversary). We had stops in Montenegro and Greece. We visited Athens and then several of the Greek Isles (Mykonos, Corfu, and Kephalonia.)

Poor Ave got sick as soon as we got into Venice. Luckily she was feeling better by the time we were to get on the ship.

MONTENEGRO

Here we are pulling into the long fjord that leads into the port of Kotor, Montenegro. It was so beautiful with the lush green mountains on both sides of us.

Welcome to Montenegro!

Old Town Montenegro was where we spent our time. It's indeed an old town, but full of charm. It is a walled city. Here we are outside one of the walls with the Fortress in the background -- high up in the mountainside.

Our next stop was Corfu. We did an excursion on this one so we were on the bus most of the time. Looking back, I wish we had done something on our own because there were some amazing beaches here!

Also in Paleokastrista and another site we visited was the Monastary of the Virgin.

Then we were off to Achilleon Palace

And then we ended this day in the Old Town. It was very crowded but I could have shopped here much longer than the 15 minutes than we had! Things were so cheap here!!

Next stop was Athens. This was probably the most relaxed and least stressful of our days in port. We did an "On Your Own" tour so basically just paid for transfer to and from boat. We had 8 hours to wander around so no rushing. We were finally able to stop and get our Greek cuisine that we had been dying to try.

Then we were off to the Acropolis. Here is a view of Odeon of Herodes Atticus, one of the most ancient theatrical stages in the world.

We ended our stay with the boys and kids biking around Athens (and getting very lost) while Melissa and I shopped and divulged in the most heavenly baklava.
