Weekend Getaways

We've been trying to make the most of our weekends. Going on little outings to see things that we haven't had the chance to see.....or even seeing some of our favorite places again. Time is running out.....quickly!!

Angelsey Abbey

The kids were given the task of counting all of the clocks throughout the house. I think they counted 36 and we asked how many were actually in the house at the end of our exploring and we were told we were very close as there were 37 clocks in the house. He said that number always varies though because some are taken out for repair or cleaning so it was quite possible we were spot on for that particular day. It was something fun for the kids to do.

Pretending they were a slingshot

This one tripped over a log and found a branch that looked like a crutch and sent her brother and sister off to look for a matching one.

There was a really cool play area....complete with hammocks!

The girls were content with playing house though.

These two were trying to bury things and marked their places with "x's"

Tree climbing. Whenever we see a tree that is the "perfect climbing tree" they all have to give it a go.

And someone always gets too scared (usually all of them except Derek)

Bodiam Castle

The ducks started chasing them!

Leeds Castle

At this point, there was about 30 minutes until closing time. Derek and the girls used that time to go through the castle while Blake and I continued to walk the grounds and head to the gift shop.

He definitely has me wrapped around his little finger.....I caved and got him a new helmet because his other one was too small.

More March Highlights

The rest of our March highlights......

The weather really went back and forth in March. We had some cold days with a dusting of snow. The girls got excited about that.

We had one weekend of super gorgeous weather! Derek had that Friday off and we took advantage and went to Cambridge for the day. Then after we picked up the girls from school we let (okay we made) the kids play outside while Derek and I napped I the hammock.

We had game night with friends a couple times in March. So fun! Made these fun treats for one them.

And...Avery is still writing/drawing pictures for her teachers. Like ALL the time. (though now that soccer has started she has slowed down. We are so crazy busy!)

It says: "Dear Ms. Shafer, I am not going to be here for 3rd grade. I would've come to your classroom a lot of times. I will miss you very much!"   She said that because she makes things for her previous teacher all the time and then goes and asks her current teacher if she can go give it to her! I told Avery that might hurt her teachers feelings if she isn't giving her notes that day. I don't know how many times I've told her if she has something for other teachers she needs to find a time before school starts to give it to them, but I'm finding out that that doesn't happen very often.
