McKinney Falls

Canyon Lake

 

We spent Monday thru Friday at the lake this week. We were anxious to get the boat out again! After checking in to our bungalow we went straight to the boat ramps to put "her" in. Unfortunately it was pretty choppy because there was some wind that day. That made for a bumpy ride. We really wanted to swim but after getting in we quickly realized it wasn't a good idea with all of the waves.....even in the best cove we could find! So, we decided to see what tubing was like. The girls were extremely brave and did it by themselves first. Derek went really slow and while it was pretty bumpy they had fun. We decided that I would get in with them so he could go a little faster......we had fun until Derek slowed down and made too sharp of a turn causing the front of the tube to start to go under. I quickly jumped up front and started pushing the girls up and to the back. They were fine but now the tube was full of water! Derek thought he had it emptied and the girls went to go again without me.......and right away started going under! Obviously there was still some water in there somewhere. Allie was a huge help and held up her hand to say STOP! and Avery thought quickly and used her mighty muscles to pull herself back into the tube.

As you can see, she's completely fine!

Blake loved "driving" the boat. Once we got going though he was asleep in less than 5 minutes!

After getting the boat back in we went right to the beach to swim........

Before we left the beach Allie was throwing up! By the end of the night, Derek and I were too! And early the next morning.....so was Blake. What a way to start our week! It was pretty miserable. We're pretty sure it was a stomach bug, which Avery had Saturday night/Sunday. We basically did nothing on Tuesday then. We did venture to the beach again for a little bit.

As you can see Derek still doesn't feel all that great

 

And neither does Blake. :(

I still wasn't feeling all that great but I think I was doing better than Derek so I sent him and Blake back up to the bungalow for a nap. I tried to convince the girls to go back but they really wanted to stay. I think we ended up staying another hour and a half!!

That night we decided to head into town for dinner and on the way home Blake threw it all back up! We had friends coming up to the lake Wednesday to go boating with us so I filled them in on how we were doing and they didn't end up coming. We were all feeling a lot better by Wednesday morning though. So that afternoon we decided to head to McKinney Falls. It was a place we had been to before and really enjoyed. We knew we could take it easy, wouldn't feel the need to explore, and also knew there was plenty of shade. {that will be it's own post!}

We woke up Thursday to the lake looking like glass! We got the boat out right away. No tubing this time. Just enjoying the boat and took some time to swim!

After we brought the boat in we headed to Pedernales Falls. We had a ton of fun there!! {again, it's own post}

Then on Friday, our friends made it up for some fun on the boat and beach.

fell asleep again.

As you can see, Allie isn't in any of the beach pics. She started feeling sick while playing. She ended up laying down in one of the chairs and falling asleep and wasn't feeling well all night long. We're not sure if it was dehydration, heat exhaustion, another bug......or a mixture of those, but she was good to go the  next day. However, Avery felt bad with the same sort of symptoms that next night.
